SULAIMANI – A student has been released after he stabbed his teacher over three months ago in a school in Erbil and has left the city to Sulaimani, the victim teacher, Jalal Muhamamd, said at a news conference on Wednesday (June 2).

Jalal said that the students should not have been released as his legal case has not been settled yet by the court. “He has been released by a judge decree.”

“The father of the students is an employee at the Kurdistan Region Presidency. I did not have a problem with the student," the teacher said.
"I checked the student and found out he had carried some tools against the school regulations such as lighter, knife and some other tools."

On April 31, the student was tried without a court ruling and was released afterwards. However, the student showed a footage of the stabbing to the judge, Jalal said.

“His release is illegal. He should have been in jail,” he said, noting he should be under the doctor observation in the coming six months due to the repercussion of the stabbing.
