SULAIMANI – The US Consulate General in Erbil on Wednesday (June 9) issued a travel advisory, warning US citizens to avoid travel to Iraq due to health and security reasons.

The consulate said it will extend limited appointments for passport services for the US citizens until June 27 in view of prevailing situation in the Gulf country.

The limitations will include notarial and citizenship services “due to COVID19, terrorism, kidnapping, armed conflict, and Mission Iraq’s limited capacity to provide support to U.S. citizens.”

“Loss of nationality services remain suspended. All visitors to the Consulate age 10 and older must wear a mask. Appointment availability will be limited due to physical distancing requirements in our public waiting room,” the US Consulate General in Erbil said.
