SULAIMANI – Turkish warplanes on Sunday (June 13) struck a vehicle in Sulaimani’s Pishdar district killing four people, Pishdar’s mayor told Zhyan News Network.

The Turkish warplanes bombed a location between the villages of Dega and Kani Lani in Pishdar causing widespread fire and killing four, Bakir Bayiz told Zhyan.

Bayiz said they have no information regarding the identity of the victims so far.

Since April 23, Turkey has started an operation against the PKK in Duhok’s border areas and erected several military bases adding up to dozen others in the Kurdistan Region.

It was not clear the victims were civilians or PKK members as of reporting time.

PKK has started an armed struggle against the Turkish authorities since 1984, calling for Kurds' cultural rights in Turkey.

More than 40 villages have been evacuated in Darkar and Batifa towns in Zakho district of Duhok earing Turkey's bombardments, an official said. Four civilians have been wounded in the Turkish operations as well.
