SULAIMANI – More than 200 kilograms of narcotics were confiscated in two drug busts and three suspects were arrested in Sulaimani, Sulaimani Asayish Directorate said on Monday (June 14).
The narcotics were 207
kilograms of opium and heroin that were bound abroad through Sulaimani governorate, according to a confession tape released by the Asayish directorate.
Drug research experts and official are wary of a rise in drug trafficking and use in the Kurdistan Region.
On June 7, 500 kilograms of hookah tobacco flavors mingled with
narcotics were confiscated and five suspects were apprehended by the security forces in cafeterias serving shisha in the Kurdistan Region capital of Erbil's Ankawa.
