SULAIMANI – A 40-years old man die died under torture in prison while he was in the custody of Asayush (security) in Duhok on Monday (July 12), his family members said.
The prisoner was detained by an Asayish force affiliated with the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) four days ago, his brother said. “My brother died under torture by Asayish,” he said.
He was supposed to be released today, his father said, noting “I was warned of his death this evening.”
His brother said he was detained on alleged lawsuits and refuted his brother arrest was dye to narcotics trafficking.
“Without our approval, his chest was incised,” he said, calling on the Asayish to disclose the circumstances surrounding his demise.
