KDP attacked, seized guerilla camp in Xakurke: PKK

SULAIMANI – A force affiliated with the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) attacked and seized a position belonging to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Xaurke area in Duhok governorate on Sunday (March 21), a PKK-affiliated media said.
The KDP force attacked a PKK military camp
with heavy weapons in Berdesore village in Akre district at eight o'clock in the morning local time, according to PKK-affiliated ANF.
“The guerrillas avoided a skirmish to prevent the situation from escalating further. KDP troops are now reported to be stationed in the area,” said the outlet, noting “At the same time as the attack, air movements of Turkish drones and fighter jets were observed over the region.”
There were no comments by KDP and its officials so far.
PKK has started an armed struggle for Kurds' cultural rights in Turkey since 1984. Its main headquarters are based in the Kurdistan Region's mountainous border areas.
PKK and KDP are at odds over many issues, as the latter enjoys cordial relations with Turkey.
