SULAIMANI – The President of Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani on Saturday (April 10) arrived in Baghdad where he will meet senior Iraqi officials including Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi.

The visit by Barzani to Baghdad comes after his recent meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the presidential Elyse Palace in Paris. 

Barzani is expected to discuss Erbil-Baghdad relations, Iraq’s 2021 budget law, security situation of the disputed territories and enhancing more cooperation to bring about more stability to the country.

He will also inform senior Iraqi officials regarding a message given to him by French President, media outlets affiliated to the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) reported.

Barzani met with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron at the presidential Elyse Palace in Paris on Tuesday (march 30) and discussed the bilateral ties between the Kurdistan Region and France.

The resurgence and threats pose by ISIS militants, France’s cooperation and assistance to the Peshmerga and the Iraqi army in the disputes areas claimed by Erbil and Baghdad were discussed, the Kurdistan Region Presidency said in a statement.
