SULAIMANI – Several people have been arrested at the Kurdistan Region’s airports for travelling on fake visas, said Interior Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) on Sunday (April 11).
During a press conference in Erbil, Rebar Ahmed said security forces detained several people who have provided fake visas and involved in “visa smuggling.”
Fake visa application and tourism companies received a lot of money through smuggling cells from people - who sought to receive Schengen Visa, Rebar Ahmed told reporters.
“A lot of people at the Kurdistan Region’s airports have been arrested for obtaining fake visas from smugglers, we ask the citizens to not deposit money at any company to receive visa, since those companies do not have official visa granting permission,” he added.
“Today we held discussions with the foreign relations committee and Kurdish diaspora to take needed and legal proceedings.”
