SULAIMANI – Sulaimani Governorate Police Directorate said on Sunday (April 18) a man was stabbed to death by his wife in Farmanbaran neighborhood in Said Sadiq district southeast of Sulaimani.
The police forces rushed to the venue after it was cautioned of the incident and arrested the suspect along with the knife it used in the attack, said the Sulaimani police in a statement.
“The accused [person] with initials P.H.H. born in 1980 who is the killer of her husband S.A.A born in 1984,” read the sattement.
The suspect has been detained with Article 406 of the Iraqi Penal Code and confessed to the “crime”, it added.
Spokesperson for Said Sadiq Center District Taha Ahmed described the motive as a social problem, a term used by the authorities to mean domestic violence, non-political disputed and non-terrorism conflicts.
Paternal uncle of the woman told Zhyan News Network that there were no problems between the two as they were survived by five children.
Interfamily violence is on the rise. Most of the victims have been women killed by their husbands.
Four women have been killed in span of a month. The authorities usually attribute the motive behind such incidents as social problems.
Also on Sunday, police in Garmian administration reported that a woman was found dead in his home. According to her family, he hanged herself due to social problems.
Her body had been transported to the forensic apartment for autopsy.
