SULAIMANI – The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Ministry of Electricity said on Monday (April 19) that three electricity production projects will be implemented in Erbil, Sulaimani and Duhok with the capacity of producing 25 megawatts.

The ministry said in a statement that a mobile power plant will be built in Erbil’s Choman district as well,  as noting the projects should be finished within a 365 time span.

Power cuts are a persistent problem in the Kurdistan Region in spite of promises by the authorities to put an end to it.

The demands are on the rise during in winter and summer as people use electricity to heat or cool themselves.

The government has permitted private generators to fill the shortcomings, doubling peoples’ fees.
