SULAIMANI – Turkish warplanes on Thursday (April 22) launched airstrikes in three villages in Duhok’s Batifa against suspected positions of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

The airstrikes have begun since 10:00 pm and targeted three populated villages of Sile, Kashan and Nizore, a resident of Batifa told Zhyan News Network.

“The bombing was ongoing for 15 minutes and the Turkish warplanes were flying very close to the ground in our area,” said Khalid Mohammed.

Turkish warplanes have intensified airstrikes against suspected positions of the PKK in the Kurdistan Region, damaging civilian houses and causing fear among residents on the border.

Turkish and Iranian military attacks in the Kurdistan Region have often failed to take adequate precautions to minimize civilian casualties, this has cost the lives of hundreds of Kurdish residents from border areas.
