SULAIMANI — Iranian security forces shot dead two ethnic Kurds in a village near West Azerbaijan’s Piranshar district in the Iranian Kurdistan on Wednesday evening (February 24).

Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, which reports on human rights abuses, said that the pair were brothers who gunned down by the security forces on board a vehicle without prior warning.

The bodies of  Abdullah Naderi and Osman Naderi were transferred by the security forces following the direct fire, Hengaw added.

The Kurdish population is estimated at eight to twelve million mostly in the northwest, who laments lack of public services provided by the authorities in Tehran.

On February 2, Kurdistan Human Rights Association (KMMK), another watchdog, reported that 114 ethnic Kurds including environmentalists, civil activists and teachers had been arrested by the security forces in January.
