SDF member killed, 7 wounded in Syria’s Deir Ezzor

SULAIMANI – A Syria Democratic Forces (SDF) member was killed and several were wounded on Monday (May 10) on Deir Ezzor outskirts following a security and military operation earlier.
A SDF soldier was killed and six were critically wounded after unidentified gunmen on motorcycles opened fire on a bus in belonging to the SDF fighters in Deir Ezzor, Rojava Information Center (RIC) tweeted.
Deir Ezzor is jointly ruled by the SDF-backed Autonomous Administration of North east Syria (AANES) and the Syrian regime, But ISIS militants are active and stage attacks against the security forces and civilian s intermittently.
Early on Monday, the SDF, in coordination with the US-led Coalition, announced new
operation to clamp down on Islamic State (ISIS) sleeper cells and smuggling of weapons and militants in Deir Ezzor.
RIC said it had recorded an increase in sleeper cell attacks in the area bordering Iraq.
On Sunday, the US-Based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that suspected ISIS militants carried out an attack on a bus carrying a SDF force in al-Kabar village west of Deir Ezzor, killing four SDF members and injuring some others.
On Monday, an unknown gunmen shot dead
an SDF leader east of Deir Ezzor, reporetd North Press Agency (NPA).
The SOHR recorded 260 assassinations including seventeen children and eleven women were by armed cells in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, al-Hasakah countryside, al-Raqqah city and countryside, and Manbij area. In addition, 478 SDF fighters, including local leaders, were assassinated in the same areas.
The watchdog has also logged four casualties within the Coalition troops in the areas.
