SULAIMANI – A member of Democratic Union Party (PYD) leadership, Aldar Xelil on Wednesday (March 3) slammed KDP’s Masoud Barzani for meeting with the leader of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Nasr al-Hariri.

There was “a standing ovation” in Erbil for the SOC delegation “who displaced the people of Afrin, committed genocide against us and did the same thing in Sere Kany and Gire Spi,” said Xelil on his Twitter account.

“Those Daesh [ISIS militants] who were one kilometer away from Erbil three years ago… today entered Erbil in the dress of politicians and diplomats,” added the PYD leadership member referring to the SOC delegation.

An SOC delegation headed by the coalition leader Nasr al-Hariri is on a three-day visit to Erbil where he will discuss “bilateral relations and coordinate common positions towards the region’s issues, its future, and the challenges it faces.”

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and YPG, an armed wing of the PYD, have accused SOC armed forces of backing Turkish military in attack on the Kurdish-held areas in Syria.

The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) – affiliated media cited the party leader Masoud Barzani reportedly expressing concerns over the increasing abuses against civilians by rebel forces in the northwestern Syrian city of Afrin, during the meeting with the Syrian opposition delegation.

“The incidents that have happened in Afrin are cause of concern and we considerably look into the route of the incidents and the future of the Kurdish people in Syria,” Barzani was cited as saying.
